Ok I am going to get straight to the point,

The DELL c840 laptop that I am trying to use to install Windows 2k kernel ex on is having an issue each time I try to log into it after I install the final part of the patch.

I am on a local only account, but whenever I install the extended kernel, I can no longer log into the OS after I restart. This is getting ridiculous as this is the third attempt I have done to get this machine working with kernel ex.

The login error is the:

The system cannot log you on because <Domain name> is not available.

Please help me, this is driving me nuts and I don't know exactly what I am doing wrong, I am following the steps to the best of my abilities.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Apologies OP but only recently saw this. I'm assuming your account is an admin account. Can you link the KernelEX and instructions you're following? What are the specs of your machine? I have a couple Win2K machines I can follow the same instructions/steps to see what results I get.

Off the cuff I remember this type of error happening when the machine type itself changes, like from regular to PAE or single processor to multi-processor. By any chance, if you boot into Safe Mode, can you login?
