What is an "ARPLE" Release?

I found a Mac OS 8 disk and to says not for resale "ARPLE RELEASE" what does this mean? Rare at all?

Apple used CD-ROMs to present their products long before they did everything on their website. :)

Probably a GM of MacOS 8. (Golden Master). No, not rare.

In another thread here on TD, we were talking about a version before the release of macOS 8 that supposedly allowed it to run on the SE/30. Could it be this GM?
