Lets say for some reason you are refinishing your case and want to disassemble all parts beforehand. Getting that latch off is kind of tricky.

I googled and didn't find the answer... but I finally figured it out. The top hinge pin is held in place by a friction mount held in place by two internal screws. If you insert a small phillips screwdriver into the top hole (green circle) and unscrew 2 turns (don't try to unscrew it all the way), this will give the pin enough space to slide out. The lock assembly can be removed by pulling the micro C-ring off the outermost side and sliding the pin towards the center.
