I recently took apart a Radius Color Pivot to recap it. It was surprisingly difficult to get apart and had quite a few caps. If you take one of these apart, I recommend taking a bunch of photos, marking where screws go on each panel, which things got unplugged, and the order in which you removed each panel. There's probably a 'right' way to take things apart, but it wasn't obvious to me.
Good luck and happy pivoting! Power Supply

@Elemenoh
Have any photos or videos of your recapped Pivot in action? In terms of major jobs like this, I'd advise getting a tripod and keep your camera (or even iPhone) handy. That's really how I got started on YouTube in terms of my Public videos. You see, I'm forgetful and I wanted to make a video to remind myself of what I did, just in case I needed to do it all over. In particular, I wanted to try baking my 2009 iMac's video card back to life, so I started the camera rolling, initially doing it for myself. But then I started talking on the video as if I was speaking to other people too. After reviewing the footage, I decided to make it public, and it ended up helping a lot of people. That inspired me to go on to make 8 videos on the subject, and then many more about vintage Macs in general. I think a video about "Radius Color Pivot Recapping" would truly be fantastic! |

Yeah I got caught up on the power switch too but was able just to push it in a bit with my finger to get it to let go. That's the easy part. The rest is a puzzle. Though I got it all apart and back together, I'm not sure what the best order of take apart is. Whatever it is, is not what I did lol

The one I made the cap list with is 0277. I have another that is 0356. Know what the differences are between model numbers?

Yes! The earlier models are usable only with certain cards only and maybe 0356 is usable with Apple's built in video and the soft pivot software. All work as monitors but this is related to pivot function. I believe the later one the 0379 support the most options for cards, built in video, PCs with and without cards. It would be fun to shootout all 3 and make a list of what is verified to work with what and which computer/onboard video/card/software combination. I think would start with all 3 manuals and the 4th manual called Soft Pivot Software. The older archive site archive.retro.co.za is dead in the manuals section. Radius manuals were before the days of PDFs online can you believe that? If you have any manuals can you scan them and send me copies so I can start my comparison. After I get mine re capped and hopefully working (horizontal line which is most likely a non polar cap) I can test with some old Macs and PCs.
