The PowerBook 2400 uses tantalum caps on it's motherboard but has some atypical (for Apple) through-hole electrolytic caps on its power/IO board.

Curious, has anyone brought a "dead" 2400c back to life by recapping its power/IO board?

Ah, those aren't electrolytic caps. They're Sanyo OS-CON caps which are solid polymer and won't leak/are very unlikely to fail. Still good to have the values just in case but the chance of one of those failing is next to none.

Oh interesting. Saw cans and assumed electrolytic. Thanks for the correction.

Would be interested to know if there are any caps on the LCD or its inverter board. And the model number of the LCD.
