Hey I was wondering if anyone knows a good place that I could buy 128 mb ram modules for my power mac 9600 since I can not seem to find they anywhere. (I hope to max the ram out)

I've never managed to actually buy any, I was just lucky when a couple of machines had a few in already. I don't think I have enough for 1.5GB in a machine. Given the price, perhaps someone would consider designing some? @Zane Kaminski 128MB 5v 168 pin FPM DIMMs seem to be very hard to find and there is an unfulfilled demand - would it potentially be a thing that could be made at a feasible price? eBay has the vastly more common 72pin 128MB DIMMs for about $50 or $60 dollars and 5v 168 pin has traditionally sold for multiples of what 72 pin sells for (although before the price surge of 72 pin). Notes - For a 9600, both EDO and FPM work, but FPM is recommended for some macs, and EDO supposedly doesn't provide advantages on most machines, so if you were making new, FPM would be the preference, although EDO would work if FPM chips / bodges were not viable. 70ns parts would be fast enough. Note some period DIMMs had voltage level shifting - I'd assume just for supply voltage?? Macs need non-buffered, the notch positions define the voltage and buffered / non-buffered. |
