Missed this when it happened in November 2023 - but someone got a CD with all the MacPlay source code - letters from John Carmack about development, some emails from employees talking about optimizations - some 040 assembly - and a bunch more.

Discussion:

Is this Mac/PC Doom source code on ebay legit?

This is my first post here. But I saw this on ebay this week and thought maybe someone here might have a better idea than me: https://www.ebay.com/itm/204447008415 Does this look legit? Is it actually source code? Even the lister seemed to not be 100% certain if it contained the Mac or PC source ...

I know people always hate on the Mac port of Doom, but I played it quite a bit on my PowerMac 6115/CD back in the day.

I've actually got the source code for Mac Heretic (I asked and the author provided it). I should post that somewhere.

I hope to see a Doom030 in the future, like how we have 386Doom and 8088Doom. Even on an early PowerPC, Doom on Mac ran kinda bad.
