Sure it's an AMP 916668-4 or 916668-1 There's a reasonably priced one on Ebay right now. https://www.ebay.com/itm/160817100155?hash=item257172357b:g:~mUAAOSwishc1yZx

Now, can we find a pin header for the 288 pin PGA socket? There's folks who would probably make one for us, but I bet they'd want a huge quantity. The header is going to be weird. Not pin to pin in a matrix, like a normal header. But pin to balls on some sort of surface mount BGA surface or pins with flat heads that get soldered to a BGA array. For making ZIF cards in case it wasn't clear...

According to the PDF the pin spacing on the CPU is standard 2.54mm/0.1"
so if you were so inclined you could just solder a bunch of these and make you're own socket: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33010354656.html geez finally pasted the right picture... lol

Can confirm - just plopped a DIP20 socket into the ZIF just fine.
Oooh, I can play Battleship! xD

Hmmmm. If I got a 17X17 socket, poked all the pins out, and replaced them with those DH2-?pins, that would pretty much make a ZIF header. I guess. One of these days I'm going to dissect an old 233MHz PPC750 ZIF and see what the interface between the PCB and the header looks like. |

Ah well... I guess this would be simpler:

Anyone know the part number for the PGA-128 socket for the 68030? I may be in need of a few some day soon....
Edit: I'll add that I know peconnectors stocks them, but as they don't ship to the UK i'm looking to see if I can source them in the EU/UK |

I'm happy to place an order for them as I did with the Tyco 64-pin SIMM sockets?
@torbar might be willing to be an intermediary again! |

I just received them, but didn't use them for now. They look high quality, gold plated inside the pin sockets as well. They may be a little on the expensive side, but getting brand new manufactured 68030 sockets is kinda nice. Even if they are out of stock, Mouser will ask Aries to build them in around 6 weeks (which they did for me)

Any idea if you can get a new edge connector for the Color Classic / Performa 575 logic board? I got aboard from a non-working Color Classic only to find it was due to a broken pin, I was able to solder a little bit of metal to replace it. And the machine worked, but it looks terrible and I'm worried about the durability of that replaced pin with being plugged and unplugged as I remove and reinsert the board. I'm guessing it's proprietary and I can only get one from an existing board, but figured I'd ask.
Thanks for any help you can provide. |

Does cables have a place in this thread ?
PCL-10120-1E from Advantech works as a floppy cable replacement. Available from Mouser, Farnell and a few others. Useful to avoid dodgy cables from eBay. Also work for Floppy Emu

That's them. They still have the 64 pin SIMM socket for less than $2. However, the Quadra connector, 8817-140-170LH no longer has a search result. Back in 2021 there was pricing (don't know about stock) here: https://68kmla.org/bb/index.php?thr...rd-overclocking-limitations.38538/post-416900 |
