Hi all, I recently acquired what turned out to be a battery bombed Mac Plus. It must have been laying on its back for a while because as soon as I cracked the case a huge section of the interior paint flaked off. Even a stiff breeze will cause more flaking at this point.
I'm worried if I leave it like this it will continue to "snow" paint on the boards. Is it safe to rub off the rest of the paint? Or should I apply a different paint? Or something along the edges that might keep it from peeling further?

As far as I know, the metallic paint had the function of EMS. Shouldn't be a big issue if you remove it.

;) Electro Magnetic Shielding was required for FCC certification, but if you turn a blind eye to all that, as Paolo said, there are no issues.

Use a melamine sponge to scrub away the really loose stuff.
