Hello everyone I very excitedly picked up a TAM (finally) it powers on and includes everything. There are some scratches here and there but that's easy to fix, what really scares me is finding a new LCD this one as you can see is half working it obviously needs replacing. Does anyone know a compatible LCD to put into this machine? Also yes the CD tray is broken but again another very easy fix. All in all I got this unit very cheap (as far as a TAM goes) and I'm excited to get to work on it. It should be coming to me in the coming days. I have pictures below and any comments, feedback, or tips are greatly appreciated.

I am sure you can replace the LCD as it is likely the same in one of the PowerBooks.

And voila, @jajan547! :)

SOLVED: Screen replacement on a TAM - Twentieth Anniversary Mac

Surprisingly the one guide we have will get you there! Here is the guide: Twentieth Anniversary Mac Teardown. Follow it thought to Step9 to get the front off which has the LCD screen mounted. Just be careful you get the correct replacement display, you can't substitute. - Twentieth Anniversary Mac

Chin up, @jajan547. It's the LCD screen from PB 3400 and PB G3 Kanga models. :)

TAM Twentieth Anniversary Macintosh LCD replacement

Found one for sale with a rotten LCD. Powers up and just needed a replacement LCD. I doubt I can get a replacement easily, are there any compatible replacement available out there?

FYI, it's spelled voila, and it's really important not to confuse those two french words, who have different pronunciation and completely different meaning (one being tragic). Thanks.

viola = also alto violin (slightly lower than the regular violin) in English
voila = 'there you go'

I'm french. I know french language. Viola is a verb in the past tense. Meaning raped. As in << il viola sa petite amie >> : << he raped is girlfriend >>

Is that clear ?

Sorry about the rant, but this particular mistake seems common, I've seen it a few times on English boards. I don't understand where it comes from. It drives me crazy.

Those two words really sound different in french :

io is pronounced yo
oi
is pronounced wah

(And by the way: viola as a musical instrument is an italian word, we don't use it in french. We have: violon, violoncelle, viole de gambe)

viole de gambe est un instrument plus ancien (renaissance/medieval) mais violon alto est l'equivalent de viola. Source: je joue du violon depuis 1999 :D

Would this work to replace the LCD or is it the wrong G3 model? (not really familiar with apple portables as you can tell)
