Mac OS 7.5 seems to have removed the feature to create new desktop patterns. How do I get around that? Thanks.

If you draw what you want in a paint program and then copy it to the clipboard, go to the "Desktop Patterns" control panel and paste in your own pattern. You're no longer limited to 8x8 but can do larger designs - not sure what the maximum is, something like 128x128. See the teddybear desktop as an example by scrolling through the defaults.
