20 years ago a very financially irresponsible LandoGriffin bought a DECStation 5000 at an inventory disposal sale. It then sat in an attic until last weekend.

it seems like there isn't a lot of information on these variants of DEC hardware. They ran Ultrix, and look like they can run NetBSD.

just curious if anyone out there knows more about them. Were they fairly unpopular? They don't pop up on eBay very much.

My next adventure is trying to find a video cable for it so I can see if it works! It looks like it will use a serial console if there isn't a keyboard connected. So, that's an option too.

I have a personal DEC Station 5000/25 that I painfully, painfully installed ULTIRX 3 (i think) on... one month when I was motivated. What a painful process. it really wants it's disk slices to be what it wants them to be. I was interested as they run MIPS, same as my SGIs.

Anyway, I found a video cable once for it on ebay, but never found a CRT. PM me if you are interested, I'm never going to do anything with this cable.

or better yet pm me on discord, I'm on the openretroscsi

That would be amazing if you'd be willing to part with the cable! I'll PM you.

The next test will be if the CRT even works anymore :)
